PHOTOINITIATORS/PHOTOSENSITIZERS
Photoinitiators or photosensitizers form initiating species for photopolymerization upon exposure to UV or visible light. They further accelerate polymerzation in presence of coinitiators. Most of them function by formation of free radicals but cationic photoinitiators form Lewis acids which initiate cationic polymerization. Examples include:
FREE-RADICAL PHOTOINITIATORS/PHOTOSENSITIZERS
Benzophenone
Benzil dimethyl ketal
Hydroxycyclohexyl phenyl ketone
Isopropylthioxanthone
Diethoxyacetophenone
Trimethylbenzoyldiphenyl phosphine
CATIONIC PHOTOINITIATORS
Triarylsulfonium hexafluoroantimonate salts
Diaryliodonium salts
